The Copper Oven is closed

It is with bittersweet emotion that I am announcing the closure of The Copper Oven. Sunday September 2nd will be our last day of service. I love what we’ve created at the oven. But I love my family more. Over nine wonderful seasons I’ve carried our two babies, made amazing friends and put out some great food along the way. On a beautiful summer evening, when the flowers are blooming and the deck is boisterous with the hum of music from a local band, I feel proud. I look around at the smiling faces of so many guests that I’ve come to know and love. I see my staff working as a team. And I smell that quintessential wood fired pizza smell coming from our Copper Oven. But my children, now seven and three, have their own voices and opinions. It’s causing too much of a strain within our little family unit. I don’t want to look back on their formative years with more memories of absence than presence. And so, this closure becomes the easiest (and hardest) decision I’ve ever made. I choose them. The past nine years has been a privilege that I will carry with me forever. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ~ Mary Jane Challen
